About Raised Outside

Because getting kids outside shouldn’t require this much research.

Raised Outside started with a very ordinary problem: I wanted my kids outside more, but every season seemed to come with another question. Are these boots actually waterproof? Is 50° sweatshirt weather or jacket weather? Which mittens stay on? How many layers is too many?

I’m a mom of three, and I wanted one place that answered those questions simply. Raised Outside is where I share practical gear guides, weather-by-weather dressing advice, and the things that make getting outside with kids easier—not more complicated.

The goal isn’t to buy more gear. It’s to know what you actually need, skip what you don’t, and get everyone out the door.

How we do things

Start with the problem. Find what works. Go outside.

Cold hands. Wet feet. Bulky snow gear. A 40° morning that somehow turns into a 65° afternoon. Raised Outside is built around the annoyingly specific questions parents actually have—so you can find an answer quickly and move on with your day.

Good gear should make outside easier.

Warm enough. Dry enough. Comfortable enough to actually play in. And worth buying for a kid who’s probably going to outgrow it sooner than you’d like.
